CAPACITY BUILDING SUPPORT

The fundamental purpose of Specialist Disability Accommodation is to create an environment promoting “capacity building support” and improved independence.

Supports and accommodation must be provided separately to ensure the participant’s security of tenure and their choice and control.

LOCATE AND MANAGE

STS locates and manages accessible residential accommodation to provide dwellings that promote the highest possible level of independence.

We work closely with a range of housing providers, the NDIS and Local Area Coordinators (LACs) to ensure information about the availability of SDA housing is readily available.

PARTICIPANTS ARE OUR FOCUS

STS assists people with a disability who require accessible housing, and their families, supports, guardians or nominees, by:

  1. Providing specialised tenancy and property management and where appropriate undertaking the on-going facilities management;

  2. Connecting landlords and tenants;

  3. Coordinating the development of technologically smart SDA housing;

  4. Collaborating with NDIS service providers, including Support Coordinators and SILs to support tenants with a disability.

SIL PROVIDERS AND THE NDIA POLICY

The NDIA Conflict of Interest Policy requires support and accommodation to be provided separately. As a Registered SDA Provider, STS focusses exclusively on tenancy and property management.

STS recognises the importance of entering into clear collaboration agreements with SIL Providers so that each participant enjoys security of tenure and a quality “home life” experience. STS invites SIL providers to discuss their SDA property ownership and property management options to ensure compliance with the NDIA’s SDA Rules and SIL Rules.
